They tend to get DOW'd a lot by random factions and the Empire and Kislev will hunt you down pretty often. Their economy is terrible, their units are strong and they make a ton of money from blowing up settlements but the world hates them. They start as a single horde army at the top of the map and tend to struggle a lot.

Their armies tend to be split between mummified soldiers and constructs with the constructs being the main punch in your forces.Ĭhaos Warriors are largely considered to be utter garbage. They also have a crafting system that they largely share with the Dwarves where they take trade goods from around the world to craft items for your lords. They have unit caps unlike most races in the game, and building more buildings ups your cap. Basically they're egyptian-like mummies that hang out in the desert and don't need to pay their troops, but the trade off is they don't really make any money. Norsca is a Norse themed race of raiders that include a lot of monster units and a unique monster hunting mechanic that I've never fucked with because running people over with hairy elephants is better.ĭon't have a lot of experience with Tomb Kings. Lords also have to undergo quests in order to earn the right to field Knights (otherwise they're prohibitively expensive without bugging them out). Their economy is generally agrarian and if you put too many Peasant units in your armies you suffer economically. Solid pack all around and a lot of fun to play.

If you want the others (and Drycha) you need Realm of the Wood Elves as well.īretonnia is free and heavily cavalry focused. Twisted and the Twilight also unlocks Wood Elves for you but only the Sisters' faction. They can teleport between trees to defend them. They have I think 8 trees around the map that they can build into cities, but none of their other captured settlements can be raised above level 1. Wood Elves are pretty fun due to a heavily archer focused army and a unique playstyle. If you want the DLC with the most busted lords, look at The Prophet & The Warlock, Warden & the Paunch and The Queen and the Crone (really necessarily if you're into High Elves at all due to Sisters of Avelorn). Some units were exclusive to Total War Access when they released and I'm not sure if they're still there.

CA has released a ton of free lords for Warhammer, plus the Bretonnia "race" for free. The DLC is all targeted at each race and each lord pack tends to bring its own mechanics unique to that lord.ĭon't forget to claim the shit ton of free lords either by the way. If you think a race looks dope then pick up their lord packs because they're usually good. It's going to depend a lot on what you're into imo.
